1. Is Kalo® safe? Yes. Kalo® has been proven to be totally safe, as confirmed by extensive safety studies. As with every natural based product, a test patch should be used to determine whether an allergic reaction would develop. In case of a reaction discontinue use and wash the area with soap and water. We do not suggest the use of Kalo after chemical depilatories, as they often cause skin burns.
2. Which one is better the spray or the lotion? Both products are equally as effective. The spray is best suited for large body parts like the back or legs, while the lotion is best for the face, ears, and genitals. The lotion has more soothing properties and many people find it easier to apply.
3. Can I use Kalo® anywhere on my body? Kalo® can be used on any body part including genitals. Kalo® works equally as well for men as for women. If you do chose to use Kalo® on a sensitive body part please test it somewhere else first to be sure you dont have a reaction.
4. How does Kalo® work? Waxing, sugaring, or tweezing removes the hair by the root, leaving micro openings in the skin. When massaged into these areas on the skin, Kalo® penetrates the open follicles and its active ingredients interfere with the formation of a new hair. Sulphur is one of the key building blocks for healthy hair growth, and Kalo® has natural sulphur reducers that prevent the hair from regenerating.
5. Why does the product work so well? The triple-compound action of the sulphur reducers is unique to Kalo®. The organic extracts weaken and inhibit the hair at the "anagen", or "growth" stage. The moisturizing ingredients help soothe the skin unlike depilatories.
6. What is a sulphur reducer? A sulphur reducer prevents the formation of necessary sulphur linkages. Since sulphur is a necessary compound of hair growth, by preventing the formation of sulphur you are preventing the hair from growing.
7. How long will take to work? As with many natural herbal products, Kalo® will take different lengths of time to be effective for different people. In general we have found that 10% of the hair will be inhibited after each hair removal/kalo® session.
8. Do results vary on different body parts? Yes. When hair is thin and weak, such as facial hair on women, Kalo® is most effective. If the hair is medium or coarse in strength and thickness, Kalo® will take longer to work.
9. Will I see results after my first application? Possibly, but most people will see results after two or three hair removal sessions. Complete results will likely take over 1 year.
10. Why does the product work in select percentages? At any given time, 10%-15% of our hair follicles are in the anagen or growth phase. Kalo® has the greatest effect on hair follicles in the anagen phase.
11. Will Kalo® work with shaving? You may see some retarding of hair growth and weakening of the hair when Kalo® is used regularly after shaving. In fact, in some cases prolonged use may actually prevent the hair from growing back. However, Kalo® works best when the hair has been physically epilated through waxing, tweezing, etc.
12. I can't find Kalo® in my local salon will you sell it to me? Although our products are sold through salons and spas in North America, not every salon carries our products. To find a salon near you click here. If you cant find a salon near you just ask them to call us at 800 656 4746 to order the products in for you. You can also order from our website.
13. Is Kalo® FDA approved? No. Kalo is not considered a food or a drug and therefore does not require FDA approval. Kalo® has however, met all necessary safety tests so that it can be sold worldwide.
14. Will Kalo's® effects be permanent? That depends. If Kalo® is used after physical hair removal, such as waxing or tweezing, the hair will not grow back. If Kalo® is used after shaving the will grow back but more slowly and will become weaker and finer over time.
15. How long has Kalo® been on the market? Kalo® was introduced in the spring of 1997. It was tested for about 5 years prior to that.
